The Kepler Project

The Kepler Project

Start
2004

The Kepler Project supports the use and development of the free, open source Kepler Scientific Workflow System. This system helps scientists, analysts, and computer programmers create, execute, and share models and analyses across a broad range of scientific and engineering disciplines. The Kepler Scientific Workflow System can operate on data stored locally and over the internet. Using its graphical user interface (GUI), users simply select and then connect pertinent analytical components and data sources to create a "scientific workflow," an executable representation of the steps required to generate results.

The Kepler Project first began in 2004. The Kepler development team received funding for a number of efforts since then, including the development of bioKepler (2011 to 2013) and Kepler/Core (2007 to 2012). Since the WorDS Center was founded in 2014, the Kepler Scientific Workflow System has been used in other WorDS initiatives and projects, including the WIFIRE Lab.
