Andrew is completing his MS in Data Science at UC San Diego's Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute, where his work focuses on wildfire fuel characterization from lidar and 3D point cloud data, turning field and airborne scans into fuel structure estimates that land managers can actually use. He helped organize the Shrubwise data challenge and contributed the shrub segmentation work behind the lab's winning entry in the SERDP/ESTCP 3D Surface Fuels and Vegetation Modeling Prize Challenge. He also collaborates with the Battles Lab at UC Berkeley on 3D reconstruction methods for estimating fuel volume in the field. Alongside his research, Andrew works on fire and vegetation modeling at Spatial Informatics Group, and he previously co-founded a NASA JPL-incubated startup building lidar analytics for wildfire risk and served as a DSSI Scholar at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Andrew earned his BS in Computer Science and Business from Lehigh University, with a minor in Environmental Science.
