Yeshvant Matey
Graduate Student Researcher

Yeshvant Matey is a wildfire researcher and Mechanical Engineering graduate student at UC San Diego, specializing in control systems and optimization. His research focuses on wildfire risk mitigation through QUIC-FIRE simulations, GIS analytics, and Model Predictive Control to optimize fuel treatments and resource allocation. He integrates system modeling, data analysis, and economic modeling to develop cost-effective, adaptive fire containment strategies. Previously, he worked at Caterpillar and MathWorks, where he led engine controller development and thermal systems modeling. Yeshvant holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka.
