Director of Fire Science
Rod is the Associate Director of Fire Science at the Societal Computing and Innovation Lab. He is also a senior scientist in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He began his career in the field of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and theoretical turbulence modeling and is the principal investigator & developer for both LANL’s 2003 R&D 100-winning physics-based wildfire model FIRETEC and QUIC-Fire. He holds a PhD from New Mexico State University.
